Nannies play an important role in the lives of children in their care.  Child development experts agree that the most fundamental building block for a child’s higher-level emotional, social and intellectual abilities is the presence of one or more caregivers who provide consistent, nurturing care. 

A nanny is a child care specialist.  A nanny’s workplace is in a family’s private home and her job is providing one-on-one attention and the best possible care for the family’s children.  A nanny is employed by the family on a live in or out basis, to undertake all tasks related to the care of the family’s children.  Duties are generally restricted to child care and the domestic tasks related to child care. A nanny provides the family convenient, high quality care to meet each child’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs. A nanny is also responsible for organization of play activities and outings, providing behavioral guidelines and disciplining when appropriate, intellectual stimulation, language activities and provide transportation when needed. Work week usually ranges from 40 - 60 hours unsupervised.
